Ranch Roasted Carrots Recipe (1)

My kids can be pretty picky eaters, but they can’t get enough carrots. My husband is also a fan, so it’s a win win veggie at our home.

Which is great for me because they are healthy, great for their bodies, extremely inexpensive, and incredibly easy to make. Especially this Ranch Roasted Carrots recipes.

These carrots are one of our family’s favorite side dishes.

They seriously take minutes to throw together, and are so yummy. This is one of the only ways I can eat vegetables. They are so delicious, and incredibly easy.

could i make this recipe with a different dressing mix?

For this recipe, we used a ranch dressing mix, however, you could easily use another dressing mix that you prefer.

Italian Dressing Mix, or really any dressing mix that you like or prefer, would work with this recipe. We still recommend using the same amount, as directed in the instructions, but another flavor or dressing seasoning mix, would work great.

what other dressing would be good with the ranch seasoning mix?

I am a total ranch seasoning mix fan. I could honestly be their mascot. It tastes delicious on just about everything, including other vegetables. Here are a few other veggies that I love it on:

  • Zucchini
  • Asparagus
  • Red Potatoes
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Russet Potatoes or Mashed Potatoes
  • Bell Peppers
  • Yellow Squash
  • Green Beans
  • Corn
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Mushrooms
  • Tomatoes

could i make this recipe using ranch dressing?

For this recipe, we use ranch dressing mix. We do not recommend using actual ranch dressing. The texture will completely ruin the carrots, and will also be difficult to spread to all the carrots.

The mix, is just a seasoning, which can be easily sprinkled over the carrots, giving them equal coverage. The other ingredients in the ranch dressing will make for a weird texture, and possibly even taste.

For this recipe, we highly recommend just using the ranch seasoning mix, not actual ranch dressing.

FAQs

Why are my roasted carrots tough? ›

Undercook them, and the texture is tough and dense. Overcook them, and they're dry and wrinkled. The secret is to soften the carrots slightly by boiling them briefly before roasting. The texture will be firm-tender with just the right amount of caramelization on the outside.

Is it healthy to eat carrots with ranch? ›

Carrots are loaded with beta-carotene, which is great for our vision and a power antioxidant. But the hiccup is the dipping. Full-fat ranch dressing is high calorie and provides little nutrients. Also, an actual serving size of ranch dressing is quite small: two tablespoons, about the size of your thumb.

How do you get the most flavor out of carrots? ›

Here's some of our favorites to sprinkle on carrots:
  1. Garlic (minced, powder or granules)
  2. Onion powder or granules.
  3. Black malabar pepper.
  4. Cinnamon (Cassia for sweeter, Ceylon for sweetness with some more complex savory and vanilla flavors)
  5. Nutmeg powder.
  6. Cayenne pepper powder.
  7. Ginger powder.
  8. Aleppo chili.

Is it better to roast or boil carrots? ›

Roasting really brings out carrots' best qualities. To make them, just toss carrots with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Bake until they're golden on the edges and tender throughout.

Why are my carrots not getting soft in the oven? ›

You're Using Too Much (Or Too Little) Oil

But skimp on that oil and those vegetables will be too dry. Luckily, it's easy to find Goldilocks' just right amount. The solution: Before hitting the sheet pan, place the vegetables in a large bowl and add a tablespoon of oil.

How to get roasted vegetables crispy? ›

Moving the pan closer to one of the elements can help. I find that I get lots more crispy edges when I roast vegetables on a rack in the upper third of the oven. Use the convection feature on your oven, if you have one. The fan helps better circulate hot air.
