Danish Meatballs With Gravy Recipe - 4 Points | LaaLoosh (1)

Here’s one of my favorite wintertime Weight Watchers Recipes for Danish Meatballs with Gravy.

The ground turkey is mixed with a bit of Greek yogurt to help keep the meat from becoming dry without adding fat, and the touch of nutmeg that is added really gives it the perfect hint of seasonal flavor. These Danish meatballs are baked, and then topped with a fresh, homemade gravy that is creamy and delicious. And the best part is that each generous serving is just 4 Points!

This is seriously a wonderful, light comfort food recipe to help get you started on that New Year’s Resolution. Serve over rice or noodles, and pair with a light salad for a complete meal.

Danish Meatballs with Gravy

These delectable meatballs are a delicious low calorie comfort food to indulge in on a cold winter’s day. Smothered in homemade gravy and just 4 Points per serving, this dish is hard to resist.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/3 cup plain, non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup liquid egg substitute (like Eggbeaters)
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp light butter
  • 1 cup fat free milk
  • 1/2 cup fat free chicken broth
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, Panko breadcrumbs, garlic, 2 tbsp flour, paprika, onion powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, nutmeg, Greek yogurt, and liquid egg substitute. Mix well with hands.
  3. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper, and lightly mist with an olive oil mister or a cooking spray. Form the meat into about 30 1-inch meatballs, and place on baking sheet.
  4. Bake in oven for about 30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and begin to brown on the outside.
  5. While meatballs are cooking, make sauce by melting butter in a medium sized saucepan over medium high heat. Add flour and mix well to form a paste-like texture. Slowly whisk in milk, making sure to fully dissolve the flour/butter clumps. Then whisk in the broth, and add in the bouillon cube. Continue whisking until bouillon is dissolved and sauce begins to thicken. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
  6. Place cooked meatballs in a deep dish serving platter, and pour gravy over top. Garnish with fresh dill.

This was the best gravy I have ever had. It gets so nice and thick if you just let it cook for a while- I’ll be using it at Thanksgiving. Absolutely delicious, and surprisingly filling. Had it over spagetti squash and was good for dinner! Thank you!!

How important is the bouillon? I have everything but that. I was wondering if I could still get away without using it. :/

Delicious perfect creamy sauce. I did not have ground turkey so I used low fat beef instead. Added cinnamon cloves and nutmeg to sauce yummy !
